A Study of the Policy Direction Establishment for the Development of Facilities Management Corporations

Abstract

|
The local government enterprise is established and run to satisfy public interests and enterprise profits at the same time. At the moment there are 367 local government enterprises on the run in the forms of direct management, indirect management and the third sector. They may still be on the way to development through a variety of attempts of their own, but it is widely admitted that they have problems with them. This study, based on the results of managemental evaluations of facilities management corporations in this situation, aims at seeking for their desirable development directions in consideration of their status of local government enterprise in Korea. Facilities management corporations, according to the results of managemental evaluations of local governmental enterprises, proved to have some problems in terms of responsible management, business management and customer satisfaction out of the elements of responsible management, business management, business operation, customer satisfaction and innovation fulfillment. This study, accordingly, suggests some policy directions related to responsible management, business management and customer satisfaction. Facilities management corporations are expected to achieve significant improvements by putting into practice those alternatives suggested in this paper. This study does not aim to provide alternatives for individual facilities management corporation but to suggest the directions which every facilities management corporation should take. That is to say, it engages in desirable policy directions rather than concrete alternatives. So it may betray its own limits in terms of concreteness, for which I hope I can make up in my future studies.
